Acute viscerosomatic dysfunction presents with the same abrupt onset and somatic findings you see in acute somatic dysfunction. Palpation reveals similar tissue texture changes, tenderness, increased muscle tone, and motion restriction, so the somatic signs mirror those of an acute somatic dysfunction. Without additional systemic or organ-specific clues, you can’t reliably tell apart the visceral source from a primary acute somatic dysfunction based on exam alone.

Chronic somatic dysfunction would show long-standing changes, not an acute pattern. Visceral pathology would typically bring organ-specific symptoms or lab/imaging findings beyond the somatic signs. Normal tissue would lack these abnormal somatic findings.
